  • Celosia cristata. Mano de Obispo or Bishop's Hand. This ornamental cockscomb from the Mayo decorates graves for Dia de los Muertos (All Souls Day). Flowers are magenta, occasionally golden, and have a wide range of shapes.  This variety also sometimes produces wide, flat, fluted stems that are very unusual. Plants reach up to 3' in height. The black seed is edible. From our Seed Bank Collection.

Absolutely gorgeous

These grew tall with such gorgeous vibrant flowers! My leaves had barely a tinge of magenta, but grew quite tall planted in very rich soil. I’ll be saving these seeds to plant again and again. I wish I could attach a photo. They’re marvelous.
