    Also known as Annual Sunflower or Wild Sunflower. This wild ancestor of domesticated sunflowers is native throughout the southwestern US.  Multi-branched plants bear 2 inch wide flowers on stalks growing 3-6 feet tall. Birds love the seeds. Under some conditions this plant will reseed and can spread into colonies, so it is considered invasive in some states.

Zero growth

Not one seed came up!
And all planted in well drained good soil, sun and regular water.

Great flower!

Easy to grow flower, but you do have to keep the birds, chipmunks, and squirrels from eating the seed. If you can do that, you will have awesome flowers that when they go to seed, the goldfinches love eat.

Great Flowers to plant in the southwest

I love planting common sunflowers throughout the year. The seeds germinate in 7-14 days and bloom all year. I love watching the butterflies and native birds lay on the flowers when it blooms. Great seeds!

wonderful!

Here in southern California, during i think our second heat wave. These plants are just beautiful and green with really high temperatures. Gotta say they handle the heat well. Also they grow extremely tall, mines for example have gotten 7 feet tall, I assume.
