Texas Black Amber Molasses

A gem for the low desert

We had never grown sorghum before (or much else, for that matter) & couldn't be happier with how well it grew despite the hottest season recorded. To that end, while some seeds & young plants we kept watered every few days, many of the seeds we stuck in the ground grew without any attention---even in the hard pact, exposed spots of our shoulder!

In terms of growing, they can grow surprisingly tall, are fairly resilient despite our dust storms here, & even grow multiple stalks with grain clusters if you leave them long enough in the season. You can treat the stalks the same as sugar cane (so, while a press will get you syrup, you can just chew it). We're mostly harvesting for grain & seed this year. I'm looking to next year's growing season.
