Capsicum annuum. A stunning ornamental chile from Batopilas Canyon, Chihuahua, Mexico. The small upright fruit mature from purple through yellow, orange, and finally red. Origin: High desert but can perform in low desert as well.

Ordoño Peppers Are Great

I bought Ordoño seeds last year. They had a germination rate comparable to the rest of the peppers I started. Unlike the rest of the peppers I started last spring, the Ordoño are still growing and producing peppers. They didn't seem to notice that there was a drought and temperatures over 100 most days in the summer, though I will say they didn't really start producing flowers until after the temperatures dropped into the 90s/80s range and we got late summer/early autumn rains. They've survived several frosts in the last couple of months and have kept right on ticking. There's even new flowers on them this week. The peppers are small and not especially hot, but still have a very peppery flavor, so they're great when I want a pepper flavor but to still taste the rest of the food.

Beautiful colorful chiles! We had great success with starting them in flats and transplanting them in our garden beds. Thank you!

Beautiful plant

These were the easiest peppers to grow from seed. It’s a massive bush in our large pot by our front door. I call it our year round Christmas tree. I highly recommend for anyone who wants to try growing peppers
