Based on a visual inspection, the seed viability seemed to be good (e.g., there was a viable embryo). Seeds germinated slowly over the course of 10 days. I followed your instructions to soak the seeds before planting. I planted in a tray with bottom heat and a grow light in my garage. The grow light was set to white, red, and blue. The heat mat kept the temperature at 80 degrees during the day, dropping into the low 60’s - upper 50’s at night. Initial germination was 40%. I replanted after 3 or 4 weeks without soaking. Since I planted in the same cells, it was difficult to tell the germination rate; however, I had germination in 4 of the 6 cells I replanted. Not sure I would soak again.

Did not have difficulty with disease while in the trays. Used bottom watering with occasional top watering to keep the seeds moist during germination.

The plants grow slowly. I transplanted into coir pots in mid-April and placed in a cold frame that I fitted with a 40% shade cloth that I can raise up to allow for full sun. We’ve had hot, dry, windy conditions interspersed with cool conditions (including some snow). Lost a couple of small transplants during a cold snap where it snowed. But the remaining plants appear to be doing well, but do grow slowly.

First of all I appreciate the seed saving. My garden seed planted indoors are coming up and doing well. They will be ready to transplant soon. Only my chiletepin are not doing well.
I also ordered for my school and the Website has so much for teaching the students. They have Dysart some indoors with our grow Station and others directly in the ground. We are keeping diary on these.
