Flamenco

  • TS340
  • Solanum lycopersicum. An excellent open-pollinated tomato for the Southwest. Flamenco is a cross between Silvery Fir Tree for earliness and feathery foliage and Floridade for heat and disease resistance. The result is a semi-determinate 4' bush loaded with highly flavored 2", red round fruits. Nice acid/sweet balance and great flavor. Continues to produce in hot weather when others stop. Performed very well in our 2012 trials in both Tucson and Patagonia, Arizona. (Note: We have noticed that there may be some instability in this cross, as foliage sometimes has the look of one or the other parent varieties). Not from our Seed Bank Collection, but your purchase supports our conservation mission.

    • Still a staff and customer favorite!
    • Semi-determinate.
    • Approx. 0.1g/25 seeds per packet.
  • $3.95

Produced when other varieties did not

First year for this garden near Kanab, UT [ SW Utah, high desert], so the soil was very minimally amended. The plants did well after starting indoors. Being semi-determinant, as described, some were more compact, and others were larger with fern-like foliage. I was not able to provide shading. These tough plants started to produce during a very hot June/July. Some of the foliage looked wilted. After a short and minimal monsoon season, the plants rebounded and really started to produce, and continued with a long warm fall. Their flavor was tarter but the fruits were medium size, no blemishes. The harvest was good for cooking and fresh eating. Will plant these again this coming year.

Delicious, Versatile Tomatoes

Seeds grew well in zone 5a and had an abundant amount of tomatoes. I liked that they were medium-sized and they had great flavor both raw and cooked.

Native Seeds rocks!

Our center couldn't be happier receiving the seeds from native seeds. We have been working hard with our preschool class to build a sustainable flower/garden bed and this company helped us build our dream. Fantastic and thank you again!

A favorite

I've grown them in AZ and WI, and they're hardy in both climates. When other tomatoes struggle, this one seems to keep going. They were the largest plants last year when I transplanted outside, and one of the first varieties to harvest.
